About Sonja
Sonja Wajih is a force of nature — a first-generation stunt performer who didn’t step onto her first set as a stuntwoman until after 30, and is now a two-time Primetime Emmy-nominated powerhouse.
With grit, guts, and relentless training, Sonja has carved out a space in a field that has historically overlooked women — especially those who don’t follow the “traditional path.” She’s doubled for leading actors, taken high-speed car hits, been set aflame, and brought bold, cinematic action to life across major television series and blockbuster films.
In 2025, her work on The Rookie earned her first nomination for Outstanding Stunt Performance. One year later, Sonja made history of her own when her work on Apple TV+’s Palm Royale earned her a second consecutive Emmy nomination in the category — a testament not only to her versatility as a performer, but to the years of hustle, sacrifice, preparation, and self-belief behind every moment on screen.
But Sonja’s impact reaches beyond the action. As Co-Lead of the Television Academy’s Women’s Affinity Group, she works to create connection, visibility, and opportunity for women across the television industry while continuing to advocate for greater recognition of stunt performers and the extraordinary work happening within the stunt community.
Sonja is more than a stuntwoman — she’s an advocate, a collaborator who uplifts the people around her, and living proof of the power of showing up, staying ready, and taking the leap.
She’s not just part of the action — she is the action.
